Wichita, KS – Warm, windy weather is sweeping across Kansas today, bringing gusts that could reach up to 50 mph in central parts of the state, according to the US National Weather Service Wichita. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and prepare for hazardous driving conditions, especially on north-south roads.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will range from 84–89°F today with breezy conditions persisting into tonight, where lows will dip between 60–67°F. The strongest wind gusts are expected this afternoon and evening across central and south-central Kansas, including areas near Salina, Hutchinson, and Wichita.

A cold front is forecast to approach late Sunday into Sunday night, bringing a shift in temperatures and the return of showers and thunderstorms. Storm chances increase west to east through the evening, with the highest probabilities — up to 77% near Russell and 61% around Salina — before tapering off overnight.

Forecasters say the front could bring brief but strong storms with localized downpours before cooler air settles in early next week.
