Wichita, KS – Residents across south-central Kansas should prepare for a wet end to the week, as forecasters predict multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms from Friday through Saturday, keeping temperatures well below seasonal averages.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, scattered storms are expected Friday afternoon, becoming numerous overnight as a frontal boundary moves across the region. Rain will continue into Saturday, with lingering showers and cool, cloudy conditions expected through the day.
Forecasters say highs will remain in the upper 40s to low 50s Friday night, with daytime highs only reaching the 50s and 60s on Saturday. The increased rain chances and widespread cloud cover will limit any significant warm-up through the weekend.
While severe weather is not currently anticipated, the NWS notes that brief heavy downpours and isolated lightning could affect outdoor activities and travel plans Friday evening. Drivers are urged to use caution on wet roads and allow extra travel time.
