Wichita, Kansas – Well above average temperatures are expected to continue across central and southeast Kansas through the weekend and into early next week before a midweek cooldown arrives.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Wichita, very mild conditions will persist through Monday, with daytime highs climbing into the mid-60s to mid-70s. On Monday, some locations may reach the low to mid-70s, particularly along major corridors such as Interstate 135, Interstate 35, and U.S. Highway 54.
Sunday will feature highs generally between 64 and 69 degrees, while Monday is expected to be breezy with highs ranging from 71 to 75 degrees. Overnight lows will remain mild for early February, staying mostly in the mid-30s to lower 50s.
A pattern change is expected beginning Tuesday as a cool-down moves into the region. Highs Tuesday are forecast to range from the low 50s to near 70 degrees, depending on location, followed by cooler and more seasonable temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, with highs generally in the 50s.
The National Weather Service notes there is a chance for off-and-on rain showers beginning late Tuesday and continuing through the end of the week. Rain chances are currently estimated between 20 and 40 percent on some days, with no indication of severe weather at this time.
The warm and dry conditions early in the period may benefit commuters, students, and outdoor workers traveling along major roadways. However, drivers should remain alert for changing conditions later in the week as rain chances increase and temperatures cool.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the mild stretch while staying informed on forecast updates as the midweek transition approaches.
