Wichita, KS – After a stretch of mild fall weather, Kansas will see a major temperature drop this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.

Friday’s highs in the upper 60s to low 70s will give way to a windy and sharply colder weekend as a strong cold front moves through the state late Saturday. North winds of 20 to 30 mph, with higher gusts, will drive much colder air into central and southern Kansas.

By Sunday, highs will struggle to reach the upper 30s to low 40s, with overnight lows dipping into the upper teens and low 20s. The cold will persist into Monday before a gradual warm-up begins Tuesday, bringing highs back into the 60s and 70s.

Forecasters caution that wind chills may fall into the teens and single digits early Sunday in northern and central counties. Residents are advised to protect pets, plants, and outdoor plumbing ahead of the temperature drop.
