Wichita, Kansas – Above-average warmth will briefly take hold across south-central Kansas on Tuesday before temperatures trend cooler and more seasonable for the remainder of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week, with afternoon highs climbing into the low to mid-60s across the Wichita metro area. Overnight lows will remain relatively mild, ranging from 35 to 40 degrees, offering a springlike feel for mid-January.
Conditions begin to change on Wednesday, as cooler air moves into the region. Highs are expected to drop to between 46 and 51 degrees, with breezy northwest winds developing throughout the day. Wednesday night will feel noticeably colder, with lows falling into the upper teens to low 20s.
Seasonable winter temperatures continue on Thursday and Friday, with highs ranging from the low 40s to low 50s Thursday and 42 to 48 degrees Friday. Breezy conditions may persist at times, reinforcing the cooler feel even during daytime hours.
By Saturday, colder air settles in more firmly, with highs forecast to reach only the mid-30s to low 40s, and overnight lows dropping into the mid-teens to low 20s. While no precipitation or winter weather advisories are currently expected, the temperature trend marks a clear shift away from Tuesday’s brief warmth.
The changing conditions may affect commuters, students, and outdoor workers as Kansas transitions from mild afternoons back to typical January chill.
