Wichita, KS – Kansas residents will see one more day of unseasonably warm weather Sunday before a weak cold front helps bring temperatures closer to average through the middle of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, afternoon highs today will range from the upper 80s to near 90 across central and southern Kansas. Russell is forecast to reach 89 degrees, Salina 90, and Wichita 87. Most areas in southeast Kansas, including Chanute and Coffeyville, will top out in the mid-80s.
Forecasters say cloud cover will increase Monday, with temperatures falling slightly. Highs are expected between 81 and 85 degrees to start the workweek, followed by 80 to 84 degrees Tuesday. By Wednesday, highs should settle in the low to mid-80s, matching seasonal averages for late September. Overnight lows will range from the upper 50s to low 60s throughout the period.
The weather pattern marks a shift from recent above-normal temperatures. While no major storms or severe weather are expected, residents should plan for cooler evenings and more comfortable daytime conditions as the week progresses.
