Wichita, KS – Kansas residents are waking up to seasonal early-December weather this morning, but major temperature swings are on the way. After a mild Saturday with highs in the low 50s, a cold front will surge through overnight, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and a brief cold snap Sunday before warmth returns early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, morning fog will linger across parts of southeast Kansas, reducing visibility through midmorning. By afternoon, skies will clear and temperatures will reach 50°F to 55°F across most of the region, including Hutchinson, Winfield, and Pratt.
However, colder air moves in fast tonight, and Sunday highs will struggle to reach the upper 30s. Lows will dip into the upper teens to low 20s, with clear skies and a light north breeze making it feel even colder.
The cooldown won’t last long. Monday brings a slow rebound into the low 40s to near 50°F, followed by a major warm-up Tuesday, when highs are expected to surge into the upper 50s and low 60s statewide — a nearly 30-degree temperature jump in just 48 hours.
