Wichita, KS – The National Weather Service in Wichita says residents across central, south-central, and southeast Kansas can look forward to a quiet stretch of weather through early next week — though temperatures will take a noticeable dip heading into the weekend.
According to the latest forecast, Thursday will bring the warmest conditions of the week, with highs ranging from the upper 50s to upper 60s, well above seasonal averages. Sunshine and light winds will make for a pleasant day before a cold front moves through Thursday night, ushering in cooler air.
By Friday, highs will drop into the low 40s to low 50s, and by Saturday, temperatures will struggle to climb out of the upper 30s to mid-40s under partly sunny skies. The coldest day of the stretch is expected Sunday, when highs may only reach the upper 20s to mid-30s, accompanied by chilly north winds.
Despite the cooldown, the NWS notes that no significant precipitation is in sight. “The dry pattern will persist through Monday,” forecasters said, with clear to partly cloudy skies expected statewide. Temperatures will begin to rebound early next week, with highs returning to the upper 40s and low 50s by Monday.
This calm weather period follows several weeks of active storm systems across the central U.S., offering Kansans a welcome break. However, forecasters remind residents to prepare for colder mornings and potential frosty conditions this weekend.
