Wichita, KS – Rain and a few thunderstorms are moving across central and southern Kansas today, bringing scattered showers and brief downpours, according to the US National Weather Service Wichita.

Forecasters say rain chances range from 40% to 60%, highest from Harper and Winfield east to Coffeyville, with isolated embedded thunderstorms possible through the afternoon. No severe weather is expected, but brief heavy rain and lightning may occur in stronger cells.

According to the Weather Service, conditions will improve by Tuesday, with dry and warmer weather expected through Thursday. Highs will climb into the upper 70s to mid-80s, peaking midweek under mostly sunny skies.

Another system could bring showers and storms late Thursday night, marking the next chance for unsettled weather heading into the weekend.

Drivers should use caution during the morning and afternoon commute as patchy rainfall could briefly reduce visibility on area highways.
