Wichita, Kansas –Storms could rumble across Kansas overnight through Wednesday morning, with the greatest threat for strong to severe weather expected late Tuesday into early Wednesday, especially across southeast and central regions.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, isolated storms may develop late Sunday west of I-135 and I-35. Chances increase Monday and Tuesday nights, with a 60% probability of storms late Tuesday—when high temperatures could top 97 degrees in parts of south-central Kansas.
Scattered storm activity is most likely between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, bringing the potential for damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning. Areas near Salina, Hutchinson, and Wichita should monitor alerts. Storms may cause brief power outages or localized flooding in low-lying spots.
Residents are advised to charge devices, secure outdoor items, and avoid late-night travel when storms are active. This pattern marks a return to typical summer volatility, with hot days and nighttime convection.
Thunderstorm chances taper off by Wednesday afternoon, followed by a return to sunny, dry, and hot conditions Thursday with highs in the mid-90s.
Warnings remain possible through early Wednesday. More updates will be issued as conditions evolve.
