White Plains, New York – Drivers across northern Westchester and the Lower Hudson Valley should prepare for deteriorating road conditions Sunday as accumulating snow spreads into the region early in the day and lingers into the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday for northern Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties, along with northern Fairfield County in Connecticut and western Bergen County in New Jersey. Snow totals between 2 and 4 inches are expected, enough to cause slippery travel throughout the day.

In northern Westchester, including White Plains and surrounding communities, snowfall is expected to begin shortly after daybreak. Local roads, parkways, and ramps could become snow-covered by late morning, with conditions worsening during the afternoon. Rockland and Putnam counties may see similar accumulation, especially on untreated secondary roads and higher elevations.

Transportation officials urge motorists to slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, and allow additional travel time. Those who can postpone non-essential travel during the afternoon hours are encouraged to do so. Pedestrians should also watch for slick sidewalks and steps as snow builds.

The advisory is set to expire Sunday evening, but lingering icy patches could remain overnight into early Monday. Weather officials note that additional statements or updates may be issued if conditions change.
