Richmond, VA – When do clocks fall back across Virginia this year? Residents in Richmond, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Fairfax, and Roanoke will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Commonwealth.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Virginia will return to Eastern Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” gives residents an extra hour of sleep, but evenings will darken noticeably earlier next week.

In Richmond, sunset on Sunday will occur around 5:09 p.m., while in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, the sun will set closer to 5:04 p.m. Northern Virginia, including Arlington and Fairfax, will see dusk around 5:06 p.m. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to stay alert as evening commutes grow darker.

Fire officials across Virginia also remind residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide alarms during the time change—a twice-yearly safety habit promoted nationwide.

Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” by one hour again.
