Providence, RI – When do clocks fall back across Rhode Island this year? Residents in Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Newport, and Pawtucket will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Ocean State

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Rhode Island—along with the rest of the Eastern Time Zone—will return to Standard Time until early March 2026. The “fall back” brings an extra hour of sleep, but sunsets will arrive much earlier heading into November.

In Providence, sunset on Sunday will occur around 4:34 p.m., while in Newport and Warwick, the sun will dip below the horizon closer to 4:36 p.m. Commuters and early-evening travelers should prepare for darker drives beginning next week.

Local fire departments and safety officials urge residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors while changing clocks, a long-standing safety reminder promoted each fall and spring.

Daylight Saving Time resumes on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” one hour once again.
