Augusta, ME – When do clocks fall back across Maine this year? Residents in Portland, Bangor, Augusta, Lewiston, and Bar Harbor will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, marking the official end of Daylight Saving Time.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, all of Maine will return to Eastern Standard Time through early March 2026. The shift provides an extra hour of sleep but also brings noticeably earlier sunsets across the state.
In Portland, the sun will set around 4:26 p.m. on Sunday, while Bangor will see dusk closer to 4:20 p.m. Residents across coastal and inland areas alike can expect shorter days and longer evenings as winter approaches.
Fire and emergency officials encourage Mainers to use the time change as a reminder to test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed—a twice-yearly safety routine promoted nationwide.
Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” again by one hour.
