Trenton, NJ – When do clocks fall back across New Jersey this year? Residents in Newark, Jersey City, Trenton, Paterson, and Camden will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, marking the official end of Daylight Saving Time.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, New Jersey will return to Eastern Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” gives residents an extra hour of sleep, but it also means sunsets will come much earlier across the Garden State.
In Newark, the sun will set around 4:47 p.m. on Sunday, while along the Jersey Shore, including areas like Asbury Park and Atlantic City, dusk will fall closer to 4:45 p.m. Commuters and evening travelers should plan for darker drives home next week.
Fire departments and safety officials across New Jersey also remind residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries during the time change—an annual safety habit promoted nationwide.
Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” one hour again.
