Baton Rouge, LA – When do clocks fall back across Louisiana this year? Residents in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, and Lake Charles will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Pelican State.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Louisiana will return to Central Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” gives residents an extra hour of sleep, but also brings earlier sunsets and shorter days as fall transitions into winter.

In New Orleans, sunset on Sunday will occur around 5:06 p.m., while in Baton Rouge, dusk will fall near 5:10 p.m. Farther north, Shreveport will see sunset around 5:18 p.m., and Lake Charles will darken close to 5:14 p.m. Residents are encouraged to plan for darker commutes and outdoor activities ending earlier.

Fire departments across Louisiana remind residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors while adjusting clocks—a twice-yearly safety practice promoted nationwide.

Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” by one hour again.
