Nashville, TN – When do clocks fall back across Tennessee this year? Residents in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Clarksville will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, marking the official end of Daylight Saving Time across the Volunteer State.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, most of Tennessee observes Central Standard Time, while parts of East Tennessee, including Knoxville and Chattanooga, will return to Eastern Standard Time. The “fall back” gives residents an extra hour of sleep, but also brings noticeably earlier sunsets statewide.

In Nashville, sunset on Sunday will occur around 4:53 p.m. Central, while in Memphis, dusk will fall closer to 5:01 p.m. Eastern cities such as Knoxville and Chattanooga will see sunset near 5:36 p.m. Eastern. Residents are encouraged to plan for darker commutes beginning next week.

Fire departments and emergency officials across Tennessee urge residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries during the time change—a twice-yearly safety reminder promoted nationwide.

Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” one hour again.
