Sacramento, CA – When do clocks fall back across California this year? Residents in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, and Fresno will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Golden State.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, California will return to Pacific Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” provides an extra hour of sleep, but also brings earlier sunsets and longer nights as the state heads into late fall.
In Los Angeles, sunset on Sunday will occur around 4:58 p.m., while in San Francisco, dusk will fall near 5:08 p.m. Farther south, San Diego will see sunset around 4:56 p.m., and in Sacramento, it will occur close to 5:02 p.m. Residents statewide should prepare for darker commutes and cooler evenings starting next week.
Fire departments across California urge residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries during the time change—a twice-yearly safety reminder promoted nationwide.
Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” one hour again.
