Lansing, MI – When do clocks fall back across Michigan this year? Residents in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Flint will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Great Lakes State.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, most of Michigan will return to Eastern Standard Time through early March 2026. (Parts of the western Upper Peninsula remain on Central Time.) The “fall back” provides an extra hour of sleep, but it also means earlier sunsets and darker evenings statewide.

In Detroit, sunset on Sunday will occur around 5:26 p.m., while in Grand Rapids, dusk will fall closer to 5:32 p.m. Residents in northern areas like Traverse City will see sunset around 5:25 p.m. as daylight hours shorten heading into November.

Fire and emergency officials encourage Michiganders to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries during the time change—a safety reminder promoted every fall and spring.

Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” by one hour again.
