Raleigh, NC – When do clocks fall back across North Carolina this year? Residents in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Wilmington, and Asheville will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Tar Heel State.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, North Carolina will return to Eastern Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” gives residents an extra hour of sleep, but also marks the start of shorter days and earlier sunsets.

In Charlotte, sunset on Sunday will occur around 5:27 p.m., while in Raleigh and Greensboro, dusk will arrive closer to 5:25 p.m. Coastal areas such as Wilmington will see sunset around 5:20 p.m., and in the mountains near Asheville, dusk will fall just after 5:30 p.m.

Fire departments across North Carolina urge residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors while changing clocks—a twice-yearly safety reminder promoted nationwide.

Daylight Saving Time will return on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” one hour again.
