Charleston, WV – When do clocks fall back across West Virginia this year? Residents in Charleston, Morgantown, Huntington, Wheeling, and Parkersburg will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, marking the end of Daylight Saving Time across the Mountain State.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, West Virginia will return to Eastern Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” brings an extra hour of sleep this weekend but also means earlier sunsets and darker evenings heading into November.
In Charleston, sunset on Sunday will occur around 5:22 p.m., while in Morgantown and Wheeling, dusk will fall closer to 5:16 p.m. Residents across the state should expect darker commutes starting next week as daylight hours shorten.
Local fire departments and emergency officials encourage West Virginians to check and replace smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries while adjusting clocks—a safety reminder promoted nationwide every fall and spring.
Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” one hour again.
