Boston, MA – When do clocks fall back across Massachusetts this year? Residents in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Lowell, and New Bedford will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Bay State.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, all of Massachusetts will shift to Eastern Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” provides an extra hour of sleep this weekend but also marks the start of noticeably earlier sunsets.
In Boston, the sun will set around 4:33 p.m. on Sunday, while in Springfield and Worcester, dusk will arrive just before 4:40 p.m. Commuters across the state should prepare for darker evening drives beginning early next week.
Local fire departments encourage residents to use the time change as a reminder to check smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and replace batteries—a safety tip promoted twice each year when clocks are adjusted.
Daylight Saving Time will return on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” by one hour again.
