Montgomery, AL – When do clocks fall back across Alabama this year? Residents in Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, marking the end of Daylight Saving Time across the state.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Alabama will return to Central Standard Time through early March 2026. The “fall back” gives residents an extra hour of sleep, but also brings noticeably earlier sunsets as the state heads into late fall.
In Birmingham, sunset on Sunday will occur around 4:53 p.m., while in Montgomery, dusk will fall near 4:55 p.m. Coastal areas such as Mobile will see sunset around 5:00 p.m., while Huntsville and northern Alabama will darken closer to 4:48 p.m.
Fire and safety officials across Alabama are reminding residents to check and replace smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries while adjusting clocks—a twice-yearly safety habit that helps prevent household tragedies.
Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” one hour again.
