Anchorage, AK – When do clocks fall back across Alaska this year? Residents in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Wasilla, and Sitka will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as Daylight Saving Time officially ends across the Last Frontier.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, most of Alaska will return to Alaska Standard Time, while a small portion of the Aleutian Islands, including Adak, will shift to Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time. The “fall back” gives residents an extra hour of sleep, but also brings much earlier sunsets as daylight hours continue to shrink heading toward winter.

In Anchorage, sunset on Sunday will occur around 4:48 p.m., while in Fairbanks, dusk will fall closer to 4:13 p.m. Southeastern cities such as Juneau will see sunset near 3:48 p.m., and in Nome, the sun will dip below the horizon around 5:10 p.m.

Fire and safety officials across Alaska urge residents to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries during the time change — a twice-yearly safety reminder promoted nationwide.

Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when clocks “spring forward” by one hour again.
