Wheaton, IL – Willow Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic Saturday evening as St. Michael Parish School hosts its annual Welcome Back Mass & Social event.
According to the City of Wheaton Government, the closure will take place from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23. Traffic will be restricted from West Street to Wheaton Avenue to allow for the gathering.
City officials said motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the closure and should expect potential delays in the surrounding area. Barricades will be in place, and drivers are asked not to move them to ensure the safety of event participants.
The Welcome Back Mass & Social serves as a community celebration for St. Michael Parish School families, students and parishioners. The city has coordinated with event organizers to ensure traffic control and pedestrian safety throughout the evening.
Local drivers who typically use Willow Avenue during the closure window are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternate east-west routes. The city noted that the closure is temporary and will be lifted immediately following the event.
Residents and visitors should remain alert to posted signage and follow directions from city personnel on-site.
