Wheaton, IL – Starting Sunday, Dec. 1, a portion of the West Branch DuPage River Trail through McKee Marsh at Blackwell Forest Preserve will close for construction, according to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

Crews will install a new water main under the trail to support the District’s Grounds and Natural Resources Management and Maintenance Campus. The closure will affect the section of the trail between McKee Marsh Parking Lot and the Bobolink Trail connector.

According to officials, trail users should plan alternate routes and expect temporary detours near Gary’s Mill Road and Mack Road. The District has not yet announced a reopening date, but updates will be posted on the DuPage Forest website and social media channels.

The construction site is marked on trail maps, with access limited to maintenance crews during the project. Visitors can still use surrounding trails, including the Caledonia and Nighthawk trails.
