Wheaton, IL – A South Holland attorney is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly falsifying proof of court-ordered community service for a client in DuPage County.
According to the DuPage County Stateโs Attorneyโs Office, a grand jury indicted 30-year-old Devin Luster on six counts of forgery after investigators determined she submitted fraudulent community service documentation to the DuPage County Circuit Court Clerkโs Office. Authorities allege the documents falsely indicated that her client completed 247.5 hours of community service at a Calumet City daycare facility.
DuPage County Stateโs Attorney Robert Berlin announced Monday that a personal recognizance arrest warrant was issued for Luster on August 26. She turned herself in two days later at the DuPage County Jail, where she was processed and released.
Berlin emphasized that forging legal documents will not be tolerated. โCourt orders are not optional, and anyone caught submitting falsified documents to the Court will face serious consequences,โ Berlin said in a statement. He credited the Grand Jury, prosecutors, and investigators for their work on the case.
Luster is scheduled to appear in court again on October 9 in front of Judge Margaret OโConnell. If convicted, she faces six Class 3 felony counts of forgery.
Officials stressed that the indictment represents allegations only and that Luster is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
