Wheaton, IL Hosts September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at Memorial Park

Wheaton, IL – The City of Wheaton will hold a September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Memorial Park. This ceremony will honor the individuals lost in the 9/11 attacks and the military conflicts that followed.

Mayor Philip Suess, local officials, and various community groups will participate in the event. According to the City of Wheaton, participants will include the Wheaton Police and Fire Department Honor Guard, along with musical performances by Mike O’Donnell on bagpipes and soprano Olivia Doig Skaff. Michael Messer will perform on piano.

Community involvement will come from the Longfellow Elementary School Kindness Club, Rev. Santos Castillo from St. Michael Parish, and other local leaders. Director of the Wheaton College Center for Faith, Politics & Economics, David Iglesias, a retired U.S. Navy captain, will also contribute. The ceremony will conclude with trumpet performances by Gene Arnold and Jim Stombres.
