Albany, NY – The National Weather Service in Albany says the region will experience a mild start to the week, followed by a windy and colder pattern moving in just before Thanksgiving.

After a few light snow showers in higher elevations Monday morning, rain showers will return Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures climb into the 50s for many areas. By Thursday, a strong cold front will push through, bringing gusty westerly winds (30–35 mph) and sharply colder air for the holiday.

By Friday, lake-effect snow is expected to develop across the Western Adirondacks and Mohawk Valley, while much of the Capital Region remains cold and breezy.

Travelers heading out for the Thanksgiving holiday should expect wet roads midweek and chilly, windy travel conditions late week.
