Westminster, Maryland – A traffic stop in Westminster led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of cocaine, fentanyl, and cash, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, members of the Pro-Active Community Enforcement (PACE) Team were conducting traffic enforcement around 12:46 p.m. Wednesday on Baltimore Boulevard when they observed a Kia sedan displaying a Virginia temporary tag traveling westbound from Baltimore County into Carroll County. Deputies initiated a traffic stop after observing a traffic violation and a failure to obey a traffic control device.

The vehicle stopped in the 1400 block of Baltimore Boulevard. Deputies identified the driver as Tremain Gordon Eugene Bishop, 28, of Baltimore County, and the passenger as Robert Lee Johnson 3rd, 24, also of Baltimore County.

Based on observations made during the stop, deputies requested a K-9 scan of the vehicle for Controlled Dangerous Substances. Authorities said the K-9 provided a positive alert for the odor of CDS, prompting a search of the vehicle and its occupants.

During the search, deputies allegedly recovered 31.2 grams of suspected cocaine, 13.2 grams of suspected fentanyl, six cell phones, a digital scale, CDS packaging materials, and $931 in U.S. currency, all of which were seized as evidence.

Bishop and Johnson were taken into custody and transported to the Carroll County Central Booking facility. Deputies said both men were charged with seven offenses related to the possession and distribution of CDS.

Authorities said both suspects are currently being held without bail at the Carroll County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.

For commuters and residents along Baltimore Boulevard, deputies noted that proactive traffic enforcement remains a key strategy in addressing drug trafficking activity traveling through the county.

All suspects and arrestees are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
