Charleston, WV – Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms could pop up across southern West Virginia Tuesday afternoon, as a humid air mass creeps in from the south and temperatures climb toward the mid-80s.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, areas near southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky may see the first round of activity, with Clarksburg, Parkersburg, and Huntington also facing a risk of isolated downpours and brief thunderstorms through the evening. Rain chances will persist each afternoon and evening for the rest of the work week.
Charleston is expected to hit 82°F Tuesday under partly cloudy skies, while Huntington and Clarksburg top out around 84°F. Cooler conditions linger in the higher elevations, with Beckley only reaching 74°F. Elkins will see a high near 80°F, with scattered clouds and patchy late-day storms possible.
Drivers should be alert for slick roads during sudden showers and keep devices charged in case of isolated power outages. Storms are not expected to be widespread, but some could produce brief gusty winds.
Daily rain chances continue through at least Thursday, with temperatures trending warmer into the upper 80s by late week.
