Seattle, WA – Dangerous heat will grip much of western Washington through Tuesday night, with the most intense temperatures expected in Seattle on Tuesday afternoon. Highs are forecast to reach near 90°F, posing a moderate risk of heat-related illnesses for those without cooling or adequate hydration.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday, impacting northwest and west-central Washington, including King, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston, and Kitsap counties. Overnight lows will only dip into the 60s, offering little relief. The advisory warns of increased health risks for young children, older adults, and outdoor workers.
Residents are urged to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and limit outdoor activities to early morning or evening. Pets and children should never be left unattended in vehicles. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded areas for those working outside.
Heat will peak along the coast Monday and shift inland Tuesday before easing midweek. Additional alerts may follow if temperatures remain high into Wednesday.
