PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A weak midweek disturbance could bring more snow showers to western Pennsylvania and nearby eastern Ohio from early Wednesday into Wednesday night. The system will move in from the west, with colder morning air allowing for light snow before temperatures climb and change snow to rain in lower elevations by afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, northern and eastern parts of the region stand the best chance for a light coating of snow early Wednesday. The highest elevations of the Laurel Highlands and PA ridges may hold onto snow longer, with minor accumulation possible before precipitation transitions to rain later in the day.

Roadways like I-79, I-80, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike could see slick spots during the morning commute, especially north and east of Pittsburgh. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by midday, reducing ice risks in most lower-lying areas.

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and check conditions through PennDOT’s 511PA system. Residents in the higher terrain should prepare for brief periods of reduced visibility and light accumulation on untreated roads. Forecasters note that the pattern remains active, with additional weak disturbances possible late this week.
