State College, PA – The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of central and western Pennsylvania, including the Allegheny Mountains, where gusty winds will persist through 4 p.m. EST Wednesday, November 12.
According to the NWS, strong westerly winds will continue to impact Cambria, Blair, Somerset, and Bedford counties, with gusts reaching 40 to 45 miles per hour at times. The strongest winds are expected over ridge tops and open areas.
These conditions may make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles, especially along Interstates 99 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike through mountain passes. Minor tree or power line damage is also possible.
The advisory remains in effect until late Wednesday afternoon, after which winds are expected to gradually diminish. The National Weather Service recommends residents secure outdoor objects and use extra caution while driving in exposed areas.
No additional hazardous weather is expected through the end of the week.
