Pittsburgh, PA – A slow-moving low-pressure system will bring widespread rainfall to western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia beginning Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

Rain is expected to arrive between 4 p.m. and midnight, moving west to east across the region. The steadiest rain will fall Wednesday night into Thursday, with lighter showers lingering into Friday morning.

Forecast models show a high probability (over 80%) that many areas will receive at least 1 inch of rainfall, with DuBois, Franklin, and Morgantown among those most likely to see 1.5 inches or more. A few localized spots could total 2 inches by early Friday.

While flooding is not expected to be widespread, ponding on roads and low-lying areas may occur during periods of heavier rain. Motorists should use caution during the Thursday morning commute.

Temperatures will remain mild during the rain event, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. The system is expected to clear eastward by Friday afternoon, leading to a cooler and drier start to the weekend.
