Pittsburgh, PA – Residents across western Pennsylvania are urged to stay weather-aware Sunday as forecasters warn of a low-level but notable risk for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, storms are expected to develop Sunday afternoon and evening — mainly between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. — as a squall line moves through the region. The system could bring brief but intense wind gusts, heavy rain, and the potential for isolated tornadoes if atmospheric conditions align.

The entire Pittsburgh forecast area is under a Level 1 (Marginal Risk) for severe weather, meaning a few storms could become strong enough to cause localized damage. Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and ensure severe weather alerts are enabled on their mobile devices.

Forecasters advise anyone with outdoor plans Sunday to remain alert for changing conditions and to seek shelter if warnings are issued.
