Pittsburgh, PA – A quick-moving weather system is set to bring snowfall to western Pennsylvania Friday evening, potentially impacting travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, snow chances will increase after 7 p.m. A swath of 1-2 inches of snow is expected to accumulate between Pittsburgh and Interstate 80, particularly in higher elevation areas. The heaviest snowfall rates, ranging from 0.2 inches to 0.5 inches per hour, are forecasted between 8 p.m. and midnight.

Motorists are advised to remain cautious as road conditions may deteriorate within snow bands. The snowfall could create slick and hazardous travel conditions, especially after the evening rush hour.

With drier air moving in, snow chances will gradually decrease from north to south between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to drop overnight, leading to possible icy spots on untreated roads and sidewalks.

Residents should stay updated with local forecasts and allow extra travel time if heading out during the evening hours. While this snowfall event is not expected to bring significant accumulations, its timing could impact commuters and travelers overnight.
