Pittsburgh, PA – Rain is moving into western Pennsylvania Friday morning and could cause minor flooding in parts of northern West Virginia by mid-afternoon as a low-pressure system spreads moisture across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, rain will arrive in New Philadelphia and Cambridge, Ohio between 8 and 10 a.m., pushing eastward toward Pittsburgh around noon and continuing into the Laurel Highlands through 4 p.m. The heaviest rainfall is expected south and east of Pittsburgh, especially in parts of northern West Virginia near Preston and Tucker counties, where saturated soils may elevate the flooding risk.

Communities like Wheeling, Washington, Uniontown, and Morgantown should be prepared for wet roads and reduced visibility during the midday commute. Some rural areas could see ponding on back roads or field runoff, especially in low-lying zones. Drivers are advised to slow down and allow extra travel time.

Rainfall totals aren’t extreme, but combined with soggy ground, they could cause drainage issues in spots already saturated from earlier systems.

Showers will continue eastward into early evening. Stay weather-aware and check for updated alerts at weather.gov/pittsburgh. Additional advisories may be issued if flooding threats increase.
