Pittsburgh, Pa. – Western Pennsylvania will start the week with sunshine and summer-like heat, but midweek storms could disrupt travel and outdoor plans by Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s through Thursday, with humidity building ahead of the rain chances.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, showers could begin late Tuesday night with a better chance of thunderstorms arriving Wednesday after 2 p.m. Some storms may bring heavy downpours and gusty winds, especially in Allegheny, Beaver, and Washington counties. Rainfall totals are expected to remain under a half-inch, though isolated pockets could see more.

Commuters should plan for slower travel Wednesday evening as wet roads and reduced visibility move into the Pittsburgh metro area. Outdoor events and practices may also be impacted across suburbs including Cranberry Township, Bethel Park, and Monroeville.

The heat continues ahead of the storms, with highs near 84 on Monday, 88 on Tuesday, and 89 Wednesday before dipping slightly behind the showers. Residents are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and keep an eye on changing conditions as thunderstorms develop.

Storm chances linger into Thursday morning before skies clear and temperatures remain in the mid to upper 80s heading into the weekend. Additional rounds of scattered storms are possible by Saturday.
