Pittsburgh, PA – The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Freeze Warning for much of western and southwestern Pennsylvania, as well as eastern Ohio and the northern panhandle of West Virginia, in effect from midnight tonight through 9 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025.

According to the National Weather Service, subfreezing temperatures as low as 26 degrees are expected overnight. The warning area includes cities such as Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Washington, Uniontown, Morgantown, Zanesville, and Wheeling.

The incoming cold air mass will bring the first widespread freeze of the season to the Ohio Valley and Western Pennsylvania region. Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, sensitive plants, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Residents are advised to cover or bring inside outdoor plants, and to disconnect and drain garden hoses to prevent frozen pipes. Those with outdoor pets should also ensure adequate warmth and shelter overnight.

The warning extends across portions of Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Westmoreland, and Washington Counties in Pennsylvania, and Muskingum, Belmont, and Jefferson Counties in Ohio, as well as Brooke, Ohio, and Marshall Counties in West Virginia.

Temperatures are expected to rebound into the upper 40s by Saturday afternoon, with another cold night possible Sunday.
