Pittsburgh, PA – Bitter cold and accumulating snow are set to impact Pittsburgh on Thursday, with temperatures plunging to a wind chill of -2°F. Snowfall of up to two inches is forecast, creating hazardous conditions for morning and evening commuters.

The National Weather Service predicts snow will begin early Thursday, with steady accumulation throughout the day. Winds of up to 10 mph will make temperatures feel significantly colder, especially in open areas and along roadways like I-279 and I-376. Officials warn drivers to prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility during peak travel times.

Thursday’s high is expected to reach just 30°F, dropping to a low of 24°F overnight. Conditions will remain frigid into Friday morning, with lingering icy patches on untreated roads.

Looking ahead, Saturday will bring a brief reprieve with highs near 40°F but also a chance of rain that may transition to snow by nightfall as temperatures drop again. Sunday will see a return to freezing conditions with a high of 26°F.

Residents are urged to dress in layers to protect against frostbite and to check on vulnerable neighbors during the extreme cold. Additionally, drivers should keep emergency kits in their vehicles and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
