Pittsburgh, PA – A significant winter storm is expected to impact portions of southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia through early Saturday morning, bringing heavy snow and gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday. Areas including the higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette counties, as well as the ridges of Monongalia, Preston, and Tucker counties, could see snow accumulations between 6 and 13 inches. Wind gusts of up to 35 mph are likely to accompany the snow, potentially causing drifting and reduced visibility.

Officials warn that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The storm is expected to significantly disrupt travel, with impacts on both Friday’s morning and evening commutes.

Residents are urged to prepare for challenging conditions, avoid unnecessary travel, and report snow or ice accumulations to the NWS via phone, Facebook, or Twitter.

Stay updated on weather conditions as the storm progresses, and exercise caution if venturing outdoors.
