Buffalo, NY – Western New York is preparing for a significant winter storm Monday, bringing heavy snow and powerful winds. Areas east of Lake Ontario could see up to 12 inches of snow, while wind gusts of up to 60 mph are forecast along Interstate 90 and surrounding regions.

According to the National Weather Service, a High Wind Watch will take effect Monday morning and continue through late Monday night. These conditions could lead to hazardous travel, reduced visibility, and scattered power outages. Lake Effect Snow Warnings are also in place, particularly for Jefferson County and other areas near the lake.

Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items and prepare for challenging travel conditions. Drivers along I-90 and other major roadways should remain cautious, as blowing snow could make visibility dangerously low.

Looking ahead, temperatures will hover in the low 30s throughout the week, with snow showers likely through Wednesday. Conditions are expected to improve slightly by Thursday, though cold temperatures will persist.
