BUFFALO, New York – Lake-effect snow winding down this morning will give way to drier conditions across western New York before another round of light snow arrives tonight. Temperatures in the low to mid-30s will help keep impacts limited during the day, but slick roads may redevelop after sunset.

According to the National Weather Service, lake-effect bands will dissipate by midmorning southeast of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, allowing for a quieter afternoon from Buffalo to Rochester and the Niagara Frontier. A fast-moving disturbance then approaches late tonight, bringing a period of light to moderate snow to much of the region.

Accumulations are expected to stay minor — generally less than an inch for most locations — though slightly higher amounts may occur in elevated areas south of Buffalo and east of Rochester. Communities including Batavia, Niagara Falls, Jamestown, and Canandaigua may see a brief coating on untreated roads.

Motorists traveling late tonight should prepare for patchy slick spots, especially on bridges and rural routes. Winds remain light, so blowing snow is not anticipated.

Dry weather returns Sunday afternoon before additional chances for light snow develop early next week.
