Buffalo, NY – Parts of central and northern New York could see moderate snowfall later this week as two weather systems move through the region. While no hazardous conditions are expected Wednesday night, a shift from rain to snow on Thursday could impact higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, an area of low pressure will bring rain across the region Thursday afternoon, which will mix with and eventually change to snow overnight. The highest snowfall accumulations are expected in the Tug Hill Plateau and western Adirondack foothills, where locally moderate amounts are possible.

A second system arriving Friday night into Saturday will bring another round of initially wet snow, which may briefly mix with rain before transitioning back to all snow by Saturday morning. The Tug Hill region and the entire North Country are expected to receive additional moderate snowfall.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for winter driving conditions, especially in higher elevations. The National Weather Service advises monitoring local forecasts for updates as snowfall totals and impacts become clearer. For the latest information, visit weather.gov/buf.
