Buffalo, NY – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of western New York until 4 p.m. Saturday, with heavy snow and strong winds impacting travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, snowfall accumulations will range from 4 to 8 inches in higher elevations, particularly across the Tug Hill Plateau and the foothills of the Adirondacks. Lower elevations can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow. Wind gusts reaching 40 mph will contribute to blowing and drifting snow, further reducing visibility.
The affected areas include Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties, with the heaviest snowfall anticipated overnight and into Saturday morning. Roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slick and hazardous.
Residents are advised to drive cautiously, as snow-covered roads and low visibility could create dangerous travel conditions. The National Weather Service urges motorists to allow extra travel time and use caution when driving.
For the latest updates, residents can report snowfall totals and conditions through the National Weather Service website or social media.
