Buffalo, NY – Drivers across western and northern New York are being warned to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions tonight, as areas of dense fog are expected to develop and linger into the Monday morning commute.
According to the US National Weather Service Buffalo office, fog will impact portions of the western Southern Tier, the western and northern Finger Lakes, and the north country. Visibility could drop quickly in affected areas, creating dangerous conditions for late-night and early-morning travel.
The fog is expected to be most widespread in valleys and low-lying areas, but even highways and major routes could see reduced visibility. Motorists are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra time for travel.
Temperatures across the region will dip into the low to mid-60s overnight, with the coolest readings in northern New York, where lows may reach the upper 50s. These conditions will help support fog development, especially in areas that saw rain or higher humidity earlier in the day.
The fog is expected to gradually lift by late morning, though some areas may see impacts through the early commute hours.
