Buffalo, NY – Western New York residents can expect a brief taste of spring on Friday before rain makes a wet return just in time for the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, skies will clear Thursday night with cooler, mostly cloudy conditions heading into Friday morning. Temperatures will rebound into the low 60s by mid-day Friday, offering a short window of pleasant spring weather. Gusty southwest winds, reaching up to 45 mph, are expected by afternoon—especially near open areas along the I-90 corridor.
By Friday evening, rain chances increase rapidly. A soaking system moves in from the southwest and will persist through Saturday night, bringing heavy rainfall totals near three-quarters of an inch. Localized flooding may occur in areas with poor drainage. Residents are advised to clear gutters and avoid unnecessary travel during downpours.
Saturday will bring widespread showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day. Highs stay in the upper 50s with winds gusting up to 30 mph, creating challenging driving conditions—especially for high-profile vehicles on interstates and bridges.
Showers continue Sunday, tapering off late evening. Monday offers a brief break with partly sunny skies and cooler highs in the mid-40s. However, a chance of snow showers looms for Tuesday morning, with unseasonably chilly air returning.
