Buffalo, New York – Snow will continue to coat roads across Western New York through the overnight hours, creating slick travel conditions for drivers heading home this evening and early Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday for Wyoming, Cattaraugus and Southern Erie counties. Additional snowfall will bring 2 to 4 inches across higher terrain, including areas near Warsaw, Springville and Olean, while valleys and lower elevations such as Orchard Park pick up 1 to 2 inches.
Snow-covered pavement and limited visibility will affect stretches of Route 219, Route 400 and rural roads across the Boston Hills and southern tier highlands. Elevation will play a key role, with hilltops accumulating faster and remaining snow-packed longer overnight.
Drivers should reduce speed, increase following distance and allow extra time for travel through the early morning hours. Conditions will gradually improve after 6 a.m., though untreated secondary roads may remain slick into the Tuesday commute.
