Buffalo, NY – A new storm system is expected to bring steady rain and falling temperatures to western New York today, eventually turning into snow showers by Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
Forecasters say rain will arrive mid-morning Tuesday across western New York, spreading east and northeast throughout the afternoon. High temperatures will reach the upper 40s to mid-50s, with persistent showers continuing overnight into Wednesday.
As colder air pushes in, rain will transition to snow Wednesday evening, particularly across higher elevations from Jamestown to Lowville, and may produce light accumulations through Thanksgiving morning. Travelers should prepare for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility, especially during overnight hours.
The NWS is monitoring the potential for additional lake-effect snow late in the week as temperatures continue to drop.
Residents are advised to allow extra travel time and follow updated forecasts as conditions change through Thursday.
